I am really enjoying Belle! The other day I rode her out with a child on a schoolhorse on the trails, and the other horse, always very wonderful, didn't want to go behind a nearby school playground because it was recess and the kids were screeching (and the little girl on her wasn't being very "persuasive" = rather timid). So we switched horses and Belle just stood like a statue while the girl made several attempts to mount from the ground, finally climbing up. She was just great with this child (probably happy to be carrying about 65 pounds).

I rode her Monday to lead the hilltoppers at our Columbus Day holiday meet, which was a little brave for her first time out but she did fine. Our first check found us back by the trailers though and as we had a bit of a wait for a couple of hounds still out, she started wanting to head back to the trailers - ha ha very smart horse. She was a little like, what are we doing? as we went across driveways, into paths through the woods, behind farms, and across fields, but I had a student on my steady eddie behind us and whenever he came alongside for a moment she'd continue on no problem. I was very happy and she was extremely rate-able as the faster fields moved away ahead of us, even when we could see them galloping.
